Automation Types (v1)

The action type determines what an Automation v1 does when its trigger fires. One Automation performs one type of action, but it can process many matching files or folders. Choosing the action is therefore the first step in turning a recurring file-handling job into an Automation.

Start with the intended result: making a copy available elsewhere, moving completed work, retrieving an incoming file, or maintaining a folder structure. The action's source and destination settings then define which items it handles and where the result belongs. Several independently triggered v1 Automations do not form an ordered sequence merely because they use the same folder.

Use this reference when configuring a v1 action or checking which settings apply to it. The actions in Automations v2 work as connected nodes and have their own inputs and outputs.
