OneDrive
Connect OneDrive when working files should remain in a personal or business drive while people and systems access them through Files.com. A Mount exposes those files as a Files.com folder; a Sync delivers a separate copy between storage locations. Mounted folders can also participate in Automations.
Files.com supports OneDrive Personal and OneDrive for Business. That choice determines the required Microsoft account and whether organization email-domain checks apply. The selected account supplies access to the remote files. It is separate from the Files.com accounts and folder permissions used to reach a mount.
Account Types and Authorization
Select OneDrive when adding a Remote Server. Set OneDrive Account Type to OneDrive Personal for a consumer Microsoft account, or OneDrive Business/Other for a work or school account. Microsoft then prompts you to authorize the connection through OAuth. If the browser is signed in to multiple accounts, select the account matching both the drive and the chosen account type.
OneDrive Personal does not require a verified organization domain. Authenticate with the consumer Microsoft account that owns the drive.
Business Account Requirements
For OneDrive for Business, the account must have an email address in its Microsoft profile. Files.com verifies the email domain to confirm its association with the Microsoft organization. Using the same domain for the email address and Microsoft sign-in name, also called the user principal name (UPN), satisfies this check. When they differ, Microsoft must confirm that the email domain is verified for the organization.
Your organization can use its existing companyname.onmicrosoft.com domain or a custom domain verified in Microsoft Entra. The check concerns the account's email domain, rather than the hostname in its OneDrive web address.
The account must also have access to the required files and folders. A successful Microsoft sign-in does not grant access to every drive or document in the organization. Confirm the affected location using the same account in OneDrive if the connection can authenticate but cannot reach its files.
Credential Ownership and Renewal
Choose an account whose authorization can be maintained for the workflow's lifetime. An employee's departure or removal of their Microsoft access can interrupt a connection using that account. Integration-Centric Profiles let individuals maintain their own connections where that ownership fits the job.
Files.com refreshes OAuth access tokens automatically while Microsoft permits renewal. If a new sign-in is required, follow Re-authenticating Remote Servers. After correcting the cause, re-save a disabled Remote Server and check the next Mount or Sync operation.
Upload Delivery and File Names
With Buffered Uploads set to Automatic, Files.com receives uploads before forwarding them to OneDrive. A completed client upload then confirms receipt by Files.com; dependent work must use the onward delivery result. Buffered Uploads also explains the buffering requirement for large Box and OneDrive uploads whose size is not supplied in advance.
OneDrive file and folder names are case-preserving and case-insensitive. Names differing only by capitalization identify the same item. Resolve those collisions before copying or syncing from case-sensitive storage to avoid overwrites or merged folder contents. See case sensitivity.
