Data Protection & Privacy

A review of customer data needs to follow the information through its whole lifecycle: what Files.com receives, what a chosen operation processes, where retained and temporary copies exist, who can access them, and when they are removed. File contents, account metadata, activity records, and AI conversations have different purposes and controls.

Files.com treats customer data as confidential. Customers decide what they put into the service and which people, connections, and processing features can use it. A storage-region setting, an encrypted connection, and a retention policy each address a different part of that decision. None alone describes every copy or use of the information.

Use this reference to assess the handling your planned workflow permits and the controls available to meet your obligations. Review the destination systems as well as Files.com: a recipient's downloaded copy and an external service's records are governed by that destination. Configuration procedures remain in Product Documentation, while the Shared Responsibility Model explains the responsibilities retained by your organization.
