A file portal is part of the experience your organization gives its staff, customers, and partners. Familiar branding, clear messages, an appropriate language, and relevant navigation help people recognize where they are and understand how to work there.

Files.com lets Site Administrators adapt that experience to the audience using the site. A team receiving customer submissions may need a different presentation from an internal file workspace, even when both use the same platform. Site-wide presentation is shared across the site's Workspaces; each Child Site has its own branding and configuration.

Choose customization around the user's task. Make the organization and purpose recognizable, give people the instructions they need at the point of use, and keep navigation relevant to their role. Hiding a menu item is separate from granting access: folder permissions and API access remain governed by their own controls. Use Users & Groups when the requirement concerns who can access or change content.
