Sharing & Collaboration
A file exchange should give people the access they need for the work at hand. Sending a contract for review, collecting applications from the public, and maintaining a shared workspace for a customer all involve files, but they need different expectations about identity, allowed actions, and how long access lasts.
Files.com supports these exchanges with both registered users and visitors who do not have an account on your site. A Share Link gives someone focused browser access to selected content. An Inbox provides a lasting place to submit files without browsing the destination folder. Ongoing collaboration can use individual accounts, and a Partner can bring an external organization's users together under one access boundary.
This section helps teams choose an appropriate arrangement and make the exchange usable for the people receiving it. Consider whether someone needs to inspect, edit, download, or return files; whether participation requires registration or agreement to terms; and whether the experience belongs inside your own website. Those decisions establish the workflow before you choose its detailed settings.
In the Files.com web app, Share Links, Inboxes, registration forms, and invitation tools appear under Send & Receive. Plan the access period and the activity records you need before distributing a link. A convenient exchange still needs clear ownership: someone must know when the work is complete and when access should end.
