Boomi

Use the Files.com Partner Connector when a Boomi process needs to collect incoming files or publish application output. The Download action supplies file contents to the process; Upload writes process data into a Files.com folder. Boomi owns the transformations, application calls, and process sequence. Files.com provides the file exchange and access for the people and systems around that process.

Getting Started With Boomi

Add a Files.com - Partner Connector connection to your Boomi integration and supply a Files.com API key. Use Boomi's connector documentationExternal LinkThis link leads to an external website and will open in a new tab for the platform's connection and process configuration steps.

Files.com Partner Connector Configuration

The Files.com connector shape requires a Connection, an Action, and an Operation.

Connection

The Connection defines the Files.com account that performs the actions. It requires a Files.com API Key to authenticate and authorize the actions. Connections can be re-used in as many connector shapes as needed.

Use a dedicated non-administrator user and a Files Only key when the process only works with files and folders. The user needs the folder permissions required by the actions; the key's path and Workspace scope can narrow that access. Share Link, user, and group management require a Full Access key and the corresponding account permissions. A connection uses one key, so all shapes using that connection share its access and credential lifecycle.

When creating a new connection, go to the Connection tab, select the Click to Set button, enter the API Key, and select Apply.

Name the connection clearly, or provide a description, because the API Key does not show any identifying information and is stored in an encrypted state.

Connector Actions

The Action defines what the connector shape does on Files.com. The available actions are Copy, Create, Delete, Download, List, Move, Show, Update, Upload, List folder items (Deprecated), Download a file (Deprecated), and Upload a file (Deprecated).

Choose the action for the handoff the process needs. List identifies folder items; Download brings file contents into Boomi; Upload publishes process data as a file. Upload creates the target folder path when it does not exist. Copy and Move operate on Files.com paths, while Show retrieves details without downloading file contents.

Other actions manage folders, users, groups, and Share Links. The operation referenceExternal LinkThis link leads to an external website and will open in a new tab describes their supported objects and configuration. The older List folder items, Download a file, and Upload a file actions remain for compatibility; use List, Download, and Upload for new processes.

Connector Operations

The Operation defines a specific configuration for the chosen action, including the folder paths and file names. You can define as many operations as required, and reuse them across connector shapes.

See the Boomi Help documentation for details about configuring Connector OperationsExternal LinkThis link leads to an external website and will open in a new tab.

Application Error Responses

The Files.com Partner Connector reports application errors when a request cannot be completed, including an invalid API Key or a file or folder that cannot be found. The operation's Return Application Error Responses setting determines how your Boomi process handles these errors:

  • When the setting is cleared, the error stops the process and is reported in Process Reporting.
  • When the setting is selected, processing continues and the error response is passed to the next step. Configure your process to handle that response before treating the output as successful data.

Enable the setting when your process needs to respond to application errors itself. This behavior is supported in connector version 141 and laterExternal LinkThis link leads to an external website and will open in a new tab.

For the List action, a successful listing of an empty, accessible folder contains no items. An invalid API Key or a missing folder is an application error, not an empty-folder result.

Automatic Retry Handling

The connector uses the official Files.com Java SDK to retry requests affected by temporary network or service conditions. After those attempts are exhausted, the process must handle the returned failure according to its application-error setting.

Request retries do not restart the whole process. A download may have succeeded before an application rejected its contents, or an upload may have completed before a later shape failed. Check Process Reporting, Files.com API Logs, and the receiving application's result before repeating completed work. The iPaaS guidance also explains onward delivery when the destination is a Remote Server Mount with Buffered Uploads.

Connector Versions

The Files.com partner connector is updated as new features and fixes are applied.

New versions of the connector are made available 2 weeks before each runtime release window. Boomi's platform and runtime release schedule is at https://stats.boomi.com/External LinkThis link leads to an external website and will open in a new tab.

Your running Boomi processes do not update automatically to new versions. To move to a newer or older version of the connector, update your Boomi process manually.
