April 2025

In April 2025, Files.com shipped several platform updates that give administrators more direct control and reduce friction in file management. Site administrators can now restore deleted files directly from the platform without contacting Support. The On-Premise Agent for Windows received an update to version 2.0.4219 to fix an issue with automatic restarts. Other updates include Azure Government Blob Storage integration, SCIM provisioning for Read-only Administrators, faster Files.com Editor performance with undo during co-authoring, and more efficient Automation retries.

Restore Files Without Support Tickets

Site administrators can now restore deleted files directly from the platform, without contacting Support.

Choose the folder to restore from, the timeframe when the files were deleted, and where the restored files should go. You also control whether to include any deleted permissions and whether to preserve the original modification timestamps. Files can come back without disrupting ownership, access settings, audit trails, or your automated processes.

The Files Restores feature is now available in all sites.

Important Update for On-Premises Agent On Windows

We fixed an issue where the On-Premises Agent on Windows failed to automatically restart when log files exceeded a certain size. If you are running a version earlier than 2.0.4219 on Windows, update your agent as soon as possible to avoid disrupting your file transfers.

Other Minor Updates

Connect Azure Blob Storage in Azure Government

Connect your Files.com site to Azure Blob Storage within Azure Government. This lets you work with sensitive or regulated data while meeting federal and public sector requirements. Once connected, your server can be used for mounted folders or automatic synchronization.

Provision Read-Only Administrators with SCIM

Automatically create Read-only Administrators with SCIM Provisioning and manage access for limited-permission admins directly from your identity provider. To enable this, update the SCIM settings in your SSO provider configuration using the “Provision users in these groups to be read-only site admins” setting.

Files.com Editor Opens Faster, Includes Undo During Co-Authoring

The Files.com Editor now loads up to 20% faster. During co-authoring sessions, you can now undo changes even with multiple simultaneous authors.

No action is needed if you're already using the Files.com Editor. These updates have been applied to all applicable sites.

Site administrators can now disable Snapshot Share Link creation. Snapshot Share Links give recipients access to a read-only copy of files and let sharing users upload files directly for sharing. Files stored in Snapshot Share Links count toward your storage usage and are placed in the underscore folder.

Disabling Snapshot Share Links prevents users from uploading files directly into share links, so only files meeting your upload policies are shared with external contacts.

Snapshot Share Links are enabled by default for any site that allows sharing. To disable this feature, change the "Allow Snapshot Share Links" setting in your site's configuration.

Automations Retries More Efficient

When Automations fail or are partially successful, retries now skip steps that previously succeeded, making the retries faster. Partially complete steps that move or delete items no longer cause subsequent failures when the Automation retries.

Increased Stability for Box Connections

Transfers over Box Remote Server connections are now faster and more reliable. No action is needed; the improvements have been applied to all Box connections.

Developer Services

Several updates landed across the API, official developer documentation, and SDKs.

Foreign Language Support

The API and all SDKs now support improved foreign language handling. System-generated messages and errors can be returned in any supported language. Refer to the developer documentation for details on enabling your chosen language.

Other Java SDK Updates

The Java SDK has updated method signatures starting with version 1.5.0. Several instance methods changed in that release, so when upgrading to 1.5.0 or later, allow time for additional testing before deploying to production.
