May 2025
In May 2025, we released our MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server, which connects AI systems to your Files.com site.
We also added Microsoft Teams webhook notifications, User Lifecycle Rules, and the Permissions Audit Export.
Remote Servers gained HMAC authentication for Google Cloud Storage. We improved webhook filtering and made several updates to the web interface.
Files.com MCP Server
The Files.com MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server connects AI systems to your Files.com site. It provides an interface for reading, writing, and organizing files programmatically.
Use it to drive your Files site from an LLM in a conversational interface, generate interactive dashboards, or build custom AI applications that integrate with Files.com directly.

Microsoft Teams Integration
You can now send Files.com webhook notifications directly to a Microsoft Teams channel. Configure triggers for file and folder events so your team sees them in Teams without switching tools.
Microsoft Teams notifications are available now and can be configured by any Folder Admin or Site Administrator.
Learn more about Creating a Microsoft Teams Notification.
User Lifecycle Rules
User Lifecycle Rules automate user onboarding, offboarding, and access expiration. You can automatically disable or delete inactive users. Rules can be targeted to specific authentication methods and optionally include Folder Admins or Site Administrators.
Learn more about User Lifecycle Rules.
Permissions Audit Export
The Permissions Audit Export generates a consolidated CSV report of every user and group permission assigned across your folders. Use it to audit access, validate security policies, and prepare for compliance reviews.
If your Files.com environment includes child sites, running the report from the parent site includes permissions across all of your sites.
This feature is available now for all Site Administrators. Learn more about Running the Export.
Other Minor Updates
Settings Changes Logs in SIEM Feeds
Settings Changes logs can now be included in your SIEM integration. This covers changes to site-wide settings and configurations, as well as folder setting changes made by Site Administrators and Folder Admins.
To begin receiving this data, Site Administrators must update their SIEM configuration to enable the new feed. Learn more about the Types of Logs that can be enabled with SIEM.
Google Cloud Storage with HMAC Authentication
The Files.com integration for Google Cloud Storage now supports Hash-based Message Authentication Code (HMAC) authentication, which lets you authenticate using access and secret keys. Use HMAC when connecting through an S3-compatible API or when JSON credentials are not preferred or feasible.
Site Administrators can update each Remote Server configuration to switch from JSON authentication to HMAC.

Send Trigger File After Sync
You can configure your Sync to automatically send a 0-byte trigger file when the sync process completes successfully. This is commonly used to signal downstream systems to begin processing.
The sync trigger file is configurable on each sync by any Site Administrator or Folder Admin who has access to set up the sync.
Learn more about End-Of-Sync Trigger Filename.
Exclude Patterns for Webhooks
You can now exclude files matching specific patterns from triggering a webhook. This filters out files that don't require action at the source, rather than relying on supplemental logic in your webhook listener.
The exclude filename patterns can be set up for each webhook by any Site Administrator or Folder Admin who has access to the webhook's folder.

Better Scripting Support in Files.com Command Line Interface (CLI) App
The Files.com Command Line Interface (CLI) App has been updated to better support scripting and automation. CLI now returns accurate error codes to reflect execution results, and a new --non-interactive flag prevents the CLI from waiting for user input, making it easier to use in unattended scripts.
The --non-interactive flag requires version 2.15.0 or higher. Learn more about Downloading and Installing the CLI App.
Share Links Enhancements
We've made several updates to Share Links.
Site Administrators can enable a setting to automatically revoke a user's share links when their account is disabled or deleted, or when the user's expiration date is reached.
Share link lists now default to sorting by newest first. You can also search for share links by their URL key.
Learn more about Ownership and Sharing Policy.
Web Interface Improvements
Fields that accept Markdown now include an interactive editor, so you no longer need to enter Markdown syntax manually.
We adjusted the custom header and footer widths across the platform for better readability.
In the GPG Key Manager, you can now select just a private key when signing. Previously the interface required both a public and private key even though only the private key was used.
The Remote Servers listing now lets you choose which columns to display.
