Government Compliance Frameworks
Files.com is frequently asked about local, state and federal agency specific frameworks beyond our primary compliance certifications. This page summarizes our position on commonly referenced frameworks that may be relevant depending on customer-specific requirements or use cases.
At Files.com, our mission is simple, eliminate shadow IT.
We believe that every file transfer and integration should happen in an approved, secure, and accountable environment and not in the shadows. That philosophy extends directly to how we engage with government compliance and whitelist frameworks such as FedRAMP, state frameworks like StateRAMP and TX-RAMP, and their counterparts in other U.S. states and international jurisdictions.
FedRAMP, StateRAMP, and TX-RAMP are security authorization programs designed for public sector agencies and the cloud service providers who support them. FedRAMP applies to U.S. federal agencies and their cloud service providers, ensuring standardized security for any cloud service used across the federal government. StateRAMP extends a similar model to state and local governments nationwide, covering agencies, municipalities, higher education institutions, and their cloud service providers. TX-RAMP is specific to Texas state agencies and public higher education institutions, requiring their vendors to meet state-defined security standards. Collectively, these programs apply broadly across the public sector wherever agencies handle sensitive or regulated data, but they do not extend to private sector organizations unless those companies are vendors delivering cloud services to government entities.
We Welcome Scrutiny
We view official listing and accreditation programs as opportunities to demonstrate our commitment to world-class security. Our platform already meets or exceeds the stringent technical and operational standards expected in government contexts, and we welcome the transparency and independent validation that these frameworks bring.
Our Commitment: Partnership and Compliance
For any government agency or public-sector organization, our stance is clear:
- We do not want to be shadow IT anywhere.
- We want to be an approved and visible vendor under any relevant certification or whitelist framework.
- We are fully prepared to work with a sponsoring agency to achieve accreditation under your specific program.
Many of these frameworks including FedRAMP, StateRAMP and Texas TX-RAMP, make it straightforward for qualified vendors to achieve provisional approval and authorization (ATO) when sponsored by an agency. In those cases, we are eager to collaborate with any sponsoring agency to complete that process quickly and correctly.
Why Sponsorship Matters
Some organizations engage us as a subcontractor under a larger integrator or prime contractor. In those cases, the responsibility to sponsor Files.com for inclusion in a government framework may fall to another entity up the chain.
We actively encourage that sponsorship, because being officially recognized as an approved vendor benefits all parties including agencies, contractors, and citizens alike by ensuring transparency, accountability, and a shared commitment to secure data operations.
A Growing Landscape
The number of regional and sector-specific frameworks for state, county, national, and even cross-border is growing rapidly. We see that as a positive trend toward stronger, standardized cloud security expectations. As each new framework emerges, Files.com’s position remains consistent.
We want to work with you to get on the list.
If your agency or program requires formal vendor registration or sponsorship for cloud services, we invite you to contact us. Together, we can ensure Files.com is properly listed and fully compliant under your governance framework.
