Sync Runs & File Events

A Sync has two levels of evidence: a run summarizes one execution, and file events describe the operations within it. Start with the run outcome, then inspect its events to establish which files were transferred, skipped, or affected by an error. The separate Outbound Connections log supplies the corresponding remote-system operations.

Sync Runs

A Sync Run represents a single execution of a Sync configuration and summarizes the outcome of all Sync events that occurred during that execution.

The file events below show the individual operations within a run. If you are looking for detailed, per-action activity performed against Remote Servers or Files.com on-premise agents, refer to the Outbound Connections log.

We retain these logs for 90 days.

Sync Run Status

The Status column reflects the outcome of the Sync Run, which represents one execution of a Sync configuration.

STATUSMEANING
In ProgressThe run exists and is still executing.
SuccessThe run completed and no errors were recorded.
Partial FailureThe run completed and included both successful actions and errors.
FailureThe run completed, and errors occurred with no successful work.
SkippedThe run completed but did not perform meaningful work.

Details Recorded in Sync Runs Logs

Sync runs logs contain the following details about activity.

COLUMNDETAILS
IDID of the Sync Run. Linked to the Sync Run details, where you can view the individual Sync events for that execution.
StatusOverall outcome of the Sync Run.
Created AtWhen the Sync Run record was created.
Updated AtWhen the Sync Run record was last updated.
Sync IDID of the Sync configuration. Linked to the Sync setup page, where you can view the configuration details.
Completed AtWhen the Sync Run finished executing.
Source Remote Server TypeType of Remote Server used as the source.
Destination Remote Server TypeType of Remote Server used as the destination.
Compared FilesNumber of files compared during the Sync Run.
Successful FilesNumber of files successfully synced during the Sync Run.
Errored FilesNumber of files that were not successfully synced due to errors.
Compared FoldersNumber of folders compared during the Sync Run.
Bytes SyncedNumber of bytes transferred during the Sync Run.
Runtime (sec)Total number of seconds the Sync Run took to complete.
Event ErrorsError details recorded during the Sync Run.

File Events

The Syncs section of the Automated Actions logs shows the status and details of individual Sync events across your site. Each Sync event represents a specific operation performed as part of a scheduled transfer of files or folders between a source and a destination location.

Sync operations are Sync, List, Delete, Delete Source, Sync Overwrite, Create Directory, and Write Trigger File.

With After Copying set to delete, a Delete Source event can appear without a preceding transfer for that file. The message File already exists on destination. means the Sync found a file with the same name and size at the destination and deleted the source without transferring it. The destination copy can have been placed there by an earlier run or by another person or process.

Each event also includes an External Event ID, which identifies a specific execution of a Sync configuration. The External Event ID links to detailed logs showing the individual actions performed during that run, which is where to look when troubleshooting file-level synchronization issues.

We retain Sync logs for 180 days.

Sync actions that are performed against Remote Servers will also be detailed in the Outbound Connections log.

Sync Event Status

The Status column displays the outcome of each Sync event listed.

STATUSDETAILS
SuccessThe event completed and no errors were recorded.
Partial FailureThe event completed and included both successful actions and errors.
FailureThe event completed, and errors occurred with no successful work.
SkippedThe event completed but did not perform meaningful work.
Retried FailureA retryable error occurred and the system intends to retry. This is not a final outcome. Look for a later Success, Partial Failure, Failure, or Skipped status with the same External Event ID.

Details Recorded in Syncs Logs
