Custom Branding

Files.com allows you to easily customize the web interface to reflect your organization's brand, including replacing the Files.com logo with your company logo and choosing a color scheme that matches your company's branded color scheme. Branding settings will impact the web interface for logged-in users and for public users.

The Custom Branding settings let you change the appearance of your web interface and emails generated by your site. To take your branding even further, consider configuring a Custom Domain.

Changing Your Site Name

The Site name setting is the human-centric display name for your site, and it will be displayed in the web interface and on any emails generated from Files.com. Typically, this will be the name of your business or organization or a project name. You can change your site name at any time without disrupting access for your users.

Customizing Welcome Emails

By default, new users are sent a welcome Email when they are added to your site. If you prefer not to automatically notify users when their account is created, choose Disabled to prevent the system from sending any Welcome Emails.

In addition to completely disabling Welcome Emails, other settings allow site administrators to customize the contents. The CC welcome emails to setting allows you to specify an address that will receive a copy of each Welcome Email generated by your site. The Welcome email subject text setting lets you change the subject line of the email; if this is left blank, the default subject is "(Your site name) - Welcome!" Text entered in the Welcome email text setting is included in every message, if you leave the setting blank, the default text is "A new account has been created for you."

Changing the Web Interface Colors

You can customize the color of the web interface elements to better match your brand's color story. The Page link and button color is the color used for links and buttons. Top bar link color is used for links in the top bar. Top bar background color is the color used for the background of the top bar. Top bar text color is used for text in the top bar. Side bar background color is the background of the left-hand menu.

To customize these interface element colors, you can either enter the exact color code you want to use (you may be able to get this from your design department), or you can select a color using the color picker by clicking the colored boxes.

These colors will also be used for most emails sent from your site.

Adding Descriptive Headers and Footers

You can include custom text at the top (as a header) or the bottom (in a footer) of your site's web interface. This is helpful for links to intranet resources that your users may need, or can be used to share messages to all of your users. Both text boxes accept Markdown formatting, but HTML tags are not allowed for security reasons.

The header and footer are included on all pages of the web interface, including any pages shown to people who are not users, such as your login page, individual Share Link or Inbox pages and the email preferences page.

Custom Logo and Icons

You can customize the logo that is displayed in different parts of the web interface. This logo will also be used for most E-Mails sent from your Site to your users.

The Custom logo setting allows you to choose the logo that is displayed on the login page. This logo will also be used as the default logo for all folders. We recommend an image at least 500px wide, so that it looks good on retina devices.

Use the Custom Icons setting to choose the 16x16 icon that will be used as your favicon (the icon in the browser title bar and bookmarks).

Per-Folder Logos

In addition to setting a global logo, you can customize the logo displayed in the web interface on a per-folder basis.

By default, all folders inherit the branding settings from the site, but if a folder has a custom logo set, then it will display that instead of the one saved in your site-wide settings.

If you navigate to a folder that appears to be set properly but is still not showing the logo you expect, try a shift-refresh of your browser window to ensure that the file is not cached locally.

Custom Login Background Image

Files.com allows you to customize the background of your site's login page with the Custom login background image setting. This background image will be applied to all login flows, including your site's main login screen, reset/change password screen, request account screen, and Two Factor Authentication screen.

Login Page Help Text

The Login page help text setting allows you to add custom help text to the login page of your site. Use this area to inform your users whom to contact if they can't log in or if they need an account created. You may use Markdown for formatting, but HTML tags are not allowed for security reasons.

Customized E-Mails

With the Email notifications reply-to address, you may specify a custom Reply-to address to be included in email notifications sent from your site.

Your customized Colors and Logo will also be used for most E-Mails sent from your Site to your users.

Custom SMTP

E-Mails generated from the app are sent by no-reply@files.com by default. Site administrators can choose to use a custom SMTP server for all outbound mail.
