On-Premise

Securely connect Files.com to systems that live inside your network. Use this section when your source or destination is a file server, NAS, or application that is not publicly reachable.

On-premise connectivity uses the Files.com Agent. The Agent runs inside your environment. It bridges local storage and private networks to your Files.com site. This lets you use Files.com features (Remote Mounts, Syncs, Automations, Sharing) with on-prem folders.

On-Premise Agent explains what the Agent is and how it works. Use it when you need persistent connectivity to local disks, SMB shares, or NFS mounts. Use it when you need to route connections through your network.

Common File Server Environments

NFS covers Linux/UNIX-style mounts. Use this when your data lives on NFS and you want Files.com workflows to read from or write to that mount (typically via the Agent).

SMB Protocol covers Windows file shares and CIFS-style storage. Use this when your data lives on SMB shares and you want to integrate it with Files.com (typically via the Agent).

Other Connectivity Options

Use the Desktop App when you want end users to "map a drive." Use Services when you need a protocol endpoint.
