Sharing & Collaboration
Files.com includes several ways to share content beyond your site. Use this section when you need outbound sharing, inbound uploads, or public access. It also covers the guardrails that keep sharing secure and auditable.
Outbound sharing sends files or folders to recipients. Recipients do not need a Files.com login.
Inbound collection accepts uploads from customers, partners, or web visitors. You control where uploads land and how visitors authenticate.
Public hosting publishes content over HTTP for broad distribution. You still control domains, paths, and access requirements.
If you need to control what logged-in users can access, start with Folder Permissions.
Core Sharing Features
Share Links are for web-based sharing. Use them when you want to share files or folders for upload or download with recipients who do not need a Files.com login.
Inboxes are for inbound collection. Use them when you want external people to upload into Files.com. This is the "drop files here" workflow.
Registration and Embedding for Share Links and Inboxes
Registration & Invitations covers registrations, invitations, and consent controls that you layer onto Share Links and Inboxes.
Embedding covers embedding Share Links and Inboxes into your own website or web app, including common use cases and troubleshooting.
Other Sharing Workflows
Public Hosting (Web Hosting) is for publishing content over HTTPS. Use it when you need stable, public-facing URLs for content distribution.
Co-Authoring and Collaboration is for working together on documents. Use it when multiple people need to edit the same file without downloading and re-uploading.
