Shell Access

Files.com does not support SSH shell access on any site.

We do support connections on port 22, because we support SFTP, but we do not allow shell access. You may be asking this question because you performed a security scan and saw that it reported shell access. You can be assured that we do not support this.

You can confirm this by attempting to log in to your site via SSH. Even if authenticating with valid credentials or SSH key, you will receive a message like the following:

Welcome [username]. your authentication method is working. Files.com does not permit shell access. Please use an SFTP client instead. Connection to [site] closed.

We immediately close connections that attempt to access a shell via SSH on port 22.
