We are often asked how you can use the Files.com platform to make additional backups of your files.
First, we store all the actual contents of customer files in the Amazon S3 Simple Storage Service. Amazon S3 provides a highly durable storage infrastructure designed for mission-critical and primary data storage.
Objects are redundantly stored on multiple devices across multiple facilities in an Amazon S3 Region. Once stored, Amazon S3 maintains the durability of your objects by quickly detecting and repairing any lost redundancy.
Amazon S3 also regularly verifies the integrity of data stored using checksums. If corruption is detected, it is repaired using redundant data.
We have never lost any customer data that was stored in Amazon S3, and we do not expect to.
With that said, you may have a need for additional backups within your Files.com site. Files.com makes available tools for doing so.
Files.com's Remote Server Sync feature give you the ability to push files to remote servers.
The remote server types that we currently support include: Azure Blob Storage, Backblaze B2, Box, Dropbox, FTP, Google Cloud Storage, Google Drive, OneDrive, Rackspace Cloud Files, Amazon S3, SFTP, SharePoint, Wasabi, and WebDAV.
You can also use a sync to sync to another Files.com site.
We recommend using this capability to make the additional backups you might require.
