User Requests

Files.com lets external parties request a user account on your site. Use this when your business process requires people to submit ad-hoc requests to exchange files with you, so you can create accounts on demand rather than pre-provisioning accounts that may never be used.

Site administrators configure this through the Allow non-users to request a user account setting within User Settings.

When the setting is enabled, a Request an account link appears under the Log in button on your login page. The visitor clicks the link and enters their information for a new user account.

Creating a new user from the User Requests table pre-populates the form with the requester's name and email address. You can provide additional information, including a username and folder permissions, before creating the user account for this request.

Notification of New User Requests

Site administrators can receive an email when a new user request comes in. Configure the Notify admins of requests for a user account setting under User Settings to turn these notifications on. When the setting is enabled, every site admin who has not opted out of site alert emails receives a notification email for each new user request.
