About Singular Genomics

Singular Genomics, a life-science technology company based in San Diego, is known for its G4 benchtop sequencer and the upcoming G4X spatial-sequencing platform. These instruments enable research and clinical labs to perform high-throughput, next-generation sequencing with rapid turnaround times and flexible configurations.

Following its acquisition by Deerfield Management in early 2025, Singular set on an ambitious strategy to scale manufacturing, expand global service programs, and build a digital infrastructure capable of moving petabyte-scale data from sequencers to scientists, clinicians, and biopharma partners worldwide.

The Challenge

Data at Petabyte Scale

Each G4 sequencing run can generate more than 100 TB of data, and customers expect results within hours, not days. Singular’s existing approach, a mix of AWS Transfer Family endpoints and on-premises MFT servers, couldn’t keep up.

The setup was fragmented, undocumented, and difficult to secure. Scientists faced clunky delivery processes, while IT grappled with costly cloud egress, compliance hurdles, and limited staff capacity following internal restructuring. As a medical technology provider, Singular also needed airtight HIPAA-grade controls, including SSO, MFA, and immutable audit logs.

All requirements that legacy tools struggled to meet.
