Point-In-Time Filtering for File Restoration

Some object storage remote servers support file versioning. When versioning is enabled on these remote servers, Files.com lets you view past versions of files and recover them.

Recovering a previous version of a file is useful when a file is accidentally changed or deliberately corrupted by malware attacks such as ransomware.

Point-In-Time Filtering

When browsing a remote server that has versioning enabled, a point-in-time filter is available.

Selecting a date and time updates the view to present the folder contents as they were at that point in time.

The filter is available for all folders, so you can navigate to the specific folder or sub-folder that you want to target with the point-in-time view.

Recovering Point-In-Time Files

Once the filter is applied, you can download or copy the point-in-time version of the items in the folder. You can select multiple items for downloading or copying.

You can copy items to other locations within your Files.com site, which lets you restore to any location, including other remote servers.

Supported Remote Server Types for Point-In-Time Browsing

The only type of remote server that supports point-in-time browsing is AWS S3 with Versioning enabled. Versioning must be enabled on the bucket before you connect to it as a remote server.
