Restore
Restore recovers eligible deleted files, folders, and users through a self-service process. Site Administrators can restore site resources, and Workspace Administrators can restore resources within their own Workspace. Requests run in the background and report progress, completion, and errors.
Files and Folders
Restoring Deleted Files and Folders recovers content still within the site's deleted-file retention window. You can restore eligible content to its original location or to a new folder. Existing filenames, retained timestamps, and the option to restore permissions affect the result.
Files deleted from a Remote Server depend on that provider's recovery capabilities. Files.com does not retain those deleted contents as native-storage backups.
Users
Restoring Users recovers account configuration and credentials, with an option to restore access permissions. Group memberships must be reassigned. Review the restored account's permissions, keys, and authentication against current requirements before relying on its access.
Recovery and Retention
Restore helps reverse accidental deletions, offboarding mistakes, and unwanted automated actions. It depends on the resources that remain recoverable; it does not replace retention planning or an independent backup.
Before restoring in bulk, identify which deletion caused the problem and whether the process that caused it is still active. Restoring old timestamps can make files eligible for expiration again, and restoring a user can reinstate access that is no longer appropriate.
