Troubleshooting Access Control by Country

Access control by country works when the network information for the connecting IP address matches the countries you specify in the configuration. Use MaxMindExternal LinkThis link leads to an external website and will open in a new tab, or another internet geolocation service, to confirm that the country associated with the IP address is what you expect it to be.

Allowed Countries Not Working

The country reported for the IP address may not match the country you specified in the configuration. Confirm the country associated with the IP address using MaxMind or another geolocation service.

Check whether the same country also appears in the Disallowed Countries configuration. Disallowed Countries take precedence over Allowed Countries.

The user may also be connecting through a VPN that exits in a different country. Review the VPN networks and their associated IP addresses, determine the countries they map to, and either update the configuration to allow those countries or notify the user of the required network connection.

Disallowed Countries Not Working

The country reported for the IP address may not match the country you specified in the configuration. Confirm the country associated with the IP address using MaxMind or another geolocation service.

The user may also be connecting through a VPN that exits in a different country. Identify the VPN networks and their associated IP addresses, and include all of those countries in the configuration.

Sanctioned Countries

Files.com always blocks connections from sanctioned countries.
