Settings & Usage
Settings & Usage covers the site-level configuration, organizational structure, and operational controls that govern how your Files.com site is managed.
Workspaces are isolated administrative boundaries within a Files.com Site for a team, department, or business unit. Each Workspace has its own users, files, integrations, automations, and partners, managed by a Workspace Administrator independently from the rest of the site.
Child Sites are fully separate Files.com Sites nested under a Parent Site, each with its own subdomain, domain, IP addresses, SSO, security policy, branding, users, and integrations. Use Child Sites when separation must extend to site-wide settings — for data residency, regulatory compliance, environment isolation (production, staging, development), or distinct brands.
Security covers account access controls, network restrictions, and platform safeguards. Topics include security settings, password policies, two-factor authentication, IP whitelisting, country-based access control, TLS/SSL, HTTP security headers, and hardening guidance.
Data Governance defines how files move through workflows from ingestion to removal. It covers storage location, upload restrictions, file organization rules, retention and lifecycle policies, folder locks, legal holds, backup, restore, and eDiscovery support.
Interface covers site-level customization: custom branding, custom domain, custom SMTP, foreign language support, watermarks, and left menu customization.
Networking & Performance describes the platform architecture, storage URLs, IP addresses, hostnames, and network ports required to connect to Files.com. It covers both application-layer and storage-layer access, including requirements for allow-listing in restrictive network environments.
Usage explains how billable usage is calculated, including storage usage, transfer usage, direct routing behavior with remote servers, and API calls. It covers the usage period, overhead calculation, and edge cases for SFTP and the Desktop App.
Billing & Accounts covers invoicing, payment, consolidated billing across multiple service accounts, and account merges or splits. Contact billing@files.com or (800) 286-8372 for billing inquiries.
Support & Services explains how to contact Files.com Support, what to include in a support request, how to track platform health via the service status page, and how to plan or execute a migration.
