Invalid File or Folder Names
Remote servers used in a Sync often prohibit certain characters in file and folder names. When a Sync fails with invalid name errors, rename the affected files and folders to remove the restricted characters.
Remote servers may also restrict the length of the file or folder name. Common length limits are 160 characters and 255 characters.
Each Remote Server type calculates the total filename length using its own method. Some count only the file or folder name and its extension. Others count the full folder path plus the file name, extension, and temporary suffix.
When a Sync fails because of name length, rename the affected files and folders so they fall below the Remote Server's limit.
The maximum allowed path length on Files.com is 550 characters for the full path, including folder names.
