Custom Branding

Files.com allows you to easily customize the web interface to reflect your organization's brand, including replacing the Files.com logo with your company logo and choosing a color scheme that matches your company's branded color scheme.

To get started with customizing your site, type Branding into the search at the top of every page and click on the matching result.

Interface Colors

In the Interface Colors section of this page, you can customize the color of the following interface elements.

Page Link and Button Color is the color used for links and buttons.

Top Bar Link Color is the color used for links in the top bar.

Top Bar Background Color is the color used for the background of the top bar.

Top Bar Text Color is the color used for text in the top bar.

To customize these interface element colors, you can either enter the exact color code you want to use (you may be able to get this from your design department), or you can select a color using the color picker by clicking the colored boxes.

These colors will also be used for most E-Mails sent from your Site to your users.

Custom Logo and Icons

The following settings allow you to customize the logo that is displayed in different parts of the web interface. This logo will also be used for most E-Mails sent from your Site to your users.

Custom Logo allows you to customize the logo that is displayed on the login page. This logo will also be used as the default logo for all folders. We recommend an image at least 500px wide, so that it looks good on retina devices.

Custom Icons allow you to use your own logo for the icon that is displayed in the web interface. The 16x16 icon will be used as your favicon (the icon in the browser title bar and bookmarks).

Custom login background image

Files.com allows you to customize the background of your site's login page. To access this setting, type 'Custom login background image' in the search bar at the top of the page and then click on the matching result. This background image will be applied to all login flows, including your site's main login screen, reset/change password screen, request account screen, and Two Factor Authentication screen.

Customized E-Mails

With the Email notifications reply-to address, you may specify a custom "Reply-to" address to be included in email notifications sent from your site.

Your customized Colors and Logo will also be used for most E-Mails sent from your Site to your users.

Per-Folder Logos

In addition to setting a global logo, Files.com also lets you customize the logo displayed in the web interface on a per-folder basis.

The default condition is that all folders inherit the branding settings from the site, but if the root folder or any sub folder has a custom logo set, then it will display that instead of the one saved in your site-wide settings.

For any folder that you would like to check, navigate to that folder, open the folder settings, and view the Branding setting. That should say "Using site branding" if that folder is inheriting the logo from the site settings.

Also, subfolders of a folder using a custom logo will by default also use that custom logo. The Branding setting in that case will say "Using branding from a parent folder".

If you navigate to a folder that appears to be set properly but is still not showing the logo you expect, please try a shift-refresh of your browser window to ensure that the file is not cached locally.

To customize the logo for a particular folder, follow these easy steps:

  1. Click Files, and navigate into the folder you want to customize the logo for.
  2. Click the folder settings button in the top right.
  3. Click the Branding setting, and select the "Use custom branding on this folder" option.
  4. Use the Choose File button to select and upload your logo.
  5. Click the Save branding settings button to apply the change.

The following settings allow you to further customize the content of the web interface.

Header Text allows you to specify a header message to display on every page.

Footer Text allows you to specify a footer message to display on every page.

These text boxes both accept for formatting, but HTML tags are not allowed for security reasons.

Custom SMTP

To access this setting, type Custom SMTP text in the search at the top of the page, then click on the matching result.

E-Mails generated from the app are sent by no-reply@files.com by default. Customers on an Enterprise plan can enable this setting to use a custom SMTP server for all outbound mail.

Login Page Help Text

To access this setting, type Login help text in the search at the top of the page, then click on the matching result.

This setting allows you to add custom help text to the login page of your site. Use this area to inform your users whom to contact if they can't log in or if they need an account created. You may use Markdown for formatting, but HTML tags are not allowed for security reasons.

For example, this:

will display the following on your login page:

Left Menu Customization

Files.com allows site administrators to customize their site for their users, including hiding menu categories from certain sets of users.

It is possible to hide the following menu categories from folder administrators (users with admin privileges for at least one folder):

  • Sharing
  • Automations
  • Integrations
  • Notifications
  • Client Apps
  • Developers

Site administrators can choose to hide these categories from users who do not have any admin privileges:

  • Sharing
  • Integrations
  • Client Apps
  • Developers

This menu customization does not replace managing a user's privileges; if a user does not have sharing permissions (either assigned directly or through a group) for at least one folder, they will not be able to see the Sharing menu, even if it is enabled.

Setting Menu Visibility

To access the settings, type Left Menu in the search box at the top of every page and click on the matching result. Use the toggles to control the visibility of menu categories for the two sets of users (folder admins and everybody else).

  • Site administrators can always see all menu categories.
  • A menu category cannot be hidden from folder admins and shown for all users.
  • Toggling a menu category visibility does not replace user privileges.
  • Hiding a category prevents a user from accessing any page in that category, but it does not block access through API or CLI.
