August 2025

In August 2025, Files.com introduced a series of updates designed to strengthen security and simplify administration. The highlight is a new integration with Cisco Duo Single Sign-On (SSO), complete with support for SCIM auto-provisioning.

Cisco Duo SSO Integration with SCIM Auto-Provisioning

We have added a direct integration with Cisco Duo Single Sign-On (SSO) as an identity provider for your Files.com site. Keep your site secure and make it easier to manage your site's users with Duo’s trusted identity platform.

The new integration supports SCIM auto-provisioning for Duo. That means users can be automatically created, updated, or deactivated in Files.com based on your Duo directory, eliminating the need for manual user management.

Other Minor Updates

We released new reports for administrators and multiple interface improvements for all users. The new Share Link Report and Folder Usage Report deliver even more visibility into your how your site is being used. August also saw several updates to the Files.com Desktop App, along with some notable improvements to the official API and SDKs.

We’ve added a Share Link Report for admin users (Site Administrators and Read-only Administrators). This report lists all active share links and shows details like who created the share link, how it can be accessed, what permissions are available and when it expires. The report also includes who has registered and when they last accessed the link.

Folder Usage Audit Report

We’ve added a Folder Usage Report for Site Administrators. This report shows which folders contribute to your site's storage usage. The export has options to set how many levels deep to display and a minimum folder size to include. This report helps you manage your site and handle periodic auditing.

Web Interface Updates

We have made the File Manager simpler to use. Permissions and History are now available as tabs of the main view. The Permissions tab provides more real estate for managing permissions and can gracefully handle thousands of individual users. Displaying the History as a tab makes it easy to tell when you are viewing the history for the particular folder.

We've also added buttons for automatically generating passwords that will follow your site's password rules. These are displayed on any page where you might need to add a password, such as a Share Link or Public Hosting.

Files.com Desktop App

We've added a new configuration option to automatically launch the Files.com Desktop App when you start your computer. This makes it even simpler to access the files in your site by using Windows Explorer or macOS Finder.

The Windows installer for the Files.com Desktop App has been updated to always install into the system scope to better support Large Scale Deployments, such as with Microsoft Intune.

Developer Services

The Files.com Terraform provider was updated to address problems with creating SSH public keys and GPG keys that caused Terraform to throw errors when creating keys even though the keys were actually created successfully.

We've added a new Sync resource to our API and all SDKs, which will eventually replace the remote server sync type of folder behavior. This change reflects that syncs can take place between 2 different remote servers without the need to create a remote server mount.

We've improved code examples for filtering and sorting using our .NET SDKExternal LinkThis link leads to an external website and will open in a new tab.
