Protocol-based File Transfer

Use these connections when Files.com needs to access a file server operated by your organization or a partner. Files.com acts as the client. For applications connecting into Files.com, see Clients and Protocols.

Choose SFTP for SSH-based access, FTP or FTPS for an FTP service, or WebDAV for a WebDAV service. Configure the server's hostname, authentication, and network access, then use a Remote Server Mount for access through a Files.com folder or a Sync to copy files between systems.

Connections Between Files.com Sites

FTP, SFTP, and WebDAV Remote Servers connect Files.com to an external system or to a different Files.com site. They cannot connect a site back to itself using that site's hostname and user credentials.

For operations between folders on the same site, use the Files.com file operations or Automations directly. A circular Remote Server would send the operation out through a file transfer protocol only to return it to the same site. When the destination is a different Files.com site, use a Files.com to Files.com Remote Server instead of a protocol-based connection whenever possible.
