Resetting 2FA

A site administrator can reset the 2FA method of a user account. Reset 2FA when a user's 2FA device is lost or the user needs to configure a new 2FA method.

To trigger a reset through the web interface, edit the user's Two-factor authentication settings and choose Reset this user's 2FA methods. All of the official Files.com SDKs also provide a method for triggering this reset. Because this operation is sensitive, the site admin must re-authenticate to confirm the reset.

A user whose 2FA has been reset is prompted to create a new 2FA method on the next login through the web portal, if they are required to have a 2FA method.
