Files.com accepts file transfers over SFTP, the SSH File Transfer Protocol. Use it when a trading partner, application, or device requires an SSH-based file-transfer connection to your Files.com site.

Start with Connection Settings In Your SFTP App for the hostname, port, timeouts, and retry settings. SFTP supports SSH key authentication. The user's protocol access and folder permissions determine whether they can connect and what they can do.

File Behavior

Per-user folder settings control the root and starting folder shown to an SFTP client. They do not grant folder permissions. Moves and renames can run in the background, so the destination may not appear immediately after the client receives a response.

Before triggering processing from SFTP uploads, review partially uploaded files and the Preserve Partial SFTP Uploads After Disconnects setting. Interrupted transfers and client completion behavior affect when files are ready for downstream work.

If Files.com needs to connect to someone else's SFTP server, configure an SFTP Remote Server instead.
