Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage
Files.com integrates with Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage in several different ways.
Files.com's Remote Server Mount feature lets you connect a specific folder on Files.com to the remote server in real time. That folder becomes a client, or window, into the files stored in your remote server or cloud.
Once you configure a Mount, any operation you perform on or inside that folder acts directly on the remote in real time. Dropping a file into that folder, deleting a file, creating a subfolder, or performing any other file or folder operation your Files.com user has permission for passes through to the remote in real time.
This feature supports a wide variety of use cases, such as accessing files on a counterparty's cloud without provisioning individual user access, reducing storage costs by using on-premise or bulk storage, and letting applications access third-party clouds through the Files.com API, FTP, SFTP, or Files.com Apps.
Files.com's Sync feature gives you the ability to push or pull files to or from remote servers. The files exist in both places at the end of the sync process.
A sync can be a push, where files from your Files.com site are transferred to the remote server, or a pull, where files are transferred from the remote server to your Files.com site.
Add Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage as a Remote Server
Add a new remote server and select Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage for the server type.
You must provide an Internal name for this connection. If you're managing multiple remote servers, make the name clear enough to easily identify this particular connection.
The Authentication Information is required because it contains the credentials Files.com uses to connect to the remote system.
Authentication Information
Files.com connects to Backblaze B2 buckets using Backblaze's support for the S3 protocol. You will need to use Backblaze's S3 support to obtain an Access Key and Secret Key.
You can enter the Access Key and Secret Key directly, or select a saved credential from the Remote Server Credential Manager.
Once your Remote Server is added, integrate it with Files.com as either a Remote Server Mount or a Sync.
Add Remote Server Mount
Remote Server Mounts are created by mounting them onto an empty folder in Files.com. This folder is not the Root of your site, although that is supported if you need it.
Add Sync
After creating the Remote Server, you can use it to perform Syncs between your remote server and Files.com.
Automations
Folders configured with a Remote Server Mount to Backblaze can also be used with automations, letting you include Backblaze storage buckets as source locations or destinations for your automations.
Case Sensitivity
Be aware of case sensitivity differences when copying, moving, or syncing files and folders between Backblaze and other storage locations. Backblaze is case sensitive whereas other systems may not be. This can cause files to be overwritten, and folders to have their contents merged, when their case-insensitive names match.
Versioning
Backblaze B2 supports object versioning through its S3-compatible API. When versioning is enabled on a bucket, B2 retains previous versions of each object. Files.com's standard file listing shows only the current version. Previous versions are not visible in the file browser.
For details on how deletions, renames, and moves behave on versioned buckets, see File Operations on Object Storage.
