Direct Routing
Direct Routing means transfers in either direction don't go through the Files.com network; they pass directly between the client and the storage provider instead.
Direct Routing applies to transfers made through the CLI App, the Desktop App, and the official SDKs. Transfers made through the web interface always route through Files.com's network. Routing web interface traffic directly would mean adding every supported provider's endpoint to the web interface's Content Security Policy, and we've chosen not to do that. The CLI App, Desktop App, and SDKs don't operate under a browser's CSP, so they connect directly.
Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage (HMAC authentication), the S3 Compatible backend, Cloudflare, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, Akamai Linode, and Filebase support Direct Routing for both uploads and downloads.
Use the latest versions of our CLI app, Desktop app, and SDKs to benefit from Direct Routing.
