Use Files.com with GPG

Files.com provides encryption and decryption capabilities using GPG (GNU Privacy Guard), which is fully compatible with PGP.

Our platform can automatically encrypt and decrypt uploaded files for you.

Many companies in the Financial Services, Healthcare, and Health Sciences industries insist on the use of PGP or GPG for transmitted data. With Files.com you can quickly get set up and integrated with any partners that insist on the extra security and non-repudiation that GPG and PGP provides.

There's no limit to the number of encryption and decryption folders that you can configure and use, giving you unlimited scalability to meet the most demanding encryption needs.

Advantages of Using GPG Keys with Files.com

Files.com simplifies GPG encryption by providing built-in tools to generate, store, and manage GPG keys within its platform. Whether you're generating a new key pair or importing an existing key, Files.com makes it seamless.

No third-party software required: Generate GPG keys directly in the browser

Secure key storage: Private keys are encrypted at rest and inaccessible to Files.com employees

Easy automation: Automate file encryption and decryption in workflows

Seamless integration: Use GPG keys across multiple folders for secure file transfers

By integrating GPG encryption directly into your Files.com workflow, you can ensure that every file transfer remains secure, encrypted, and compliant with best practices.

Simple Ways to Generate GPG Keys

1. Generate in the Browser

Use the built-in GPG Key Manager to create 4096-bit RSA key pairs directly in your browser. It’s fast, secure, and ideal for managing multiple encrypted folders. Your private key is encrypted and stored safely and never accessible to Files.com staff.

2. Generate via API

Prefer automation? You can create key pairs using our API, which offers the same secure, browser-based storage and encryption. Download the key pair within 60 minutes of creation if you want to store it locally.

3. Generate Locally (Windows)

Want to create and manage your own keys offline? Use the Gpg4win suite, including the Kleopatra app, to generate key pairs or import keys shared with you for decryption.

How GPG Encryption Works

Unlike the strong at-rest encryption that Files.com already applies by default, GPG encryption is a separate encryption process applied using a public GPG key that you provide when enabling GPG encryption for a folder.

Once files are encrypted with your public key upon upload, they can only be decrypted using the corresponding private key, that only you control.

This renders your files unreadable by anyone (even Files.com!) without the corresponding private key needed to decrypt the files.

The Gold Standard for Secure File Exchange

With GPG encryption built directly into Files.com, you’re not just meeting security standards, but exceeding them. Whether you’re safeguarding sensitive healthcare data, ensuring financial compliance, or protecting intellectual property, Files.com offers the tools to keep every file locked down from upload to delivery.
