Introducing Workspaces: Independent Environments for Every Team
Files.com Workspaces give every team their own isolated environment with delegated administration, self-service operations, and centralized governance.
A Sync keeps the files in two places matching, so that when a file changes on one side, the change shows up on the other. On Files.com, the current Remote Server Sync feature is being replaced by the new Sync. The new Sync is more flexible and more reliable, and it becomes the standard going forward.
Existing Remote Server Syncs will be upgraded automatically on Oct 14th, 2025. Existing Syncs convert to the new Sync on their own, so the migration is smooth and nothing stops running.
The new Sync adds real improvements. You can set up a Sync between local folders, remote servers, and child sites in any combination, which is more than the old feature allowed. Each Sync also gets its own dedicated log file, so auditing activity and troubleshooting a problem is far easier than reading one shared log.
If you use our APIs, SDKs, or Terraform, this is the part to plan for. After the upgrade, the legacy Remote Server Sync APIs, SDKs, and Terraform stop working, and you move to the new ones. Any application that creates a Sync, changes a Sync, or reads Sync logs must be updated to the new Sync APIs to keep working. This is the most significant impact of the change. If you need more time to update those scripts or programs, you can request an extension for the automated upgrade.
