But we also know that managing updates, especially across multiple on-premise environments, can take valuable time away from your IT team. That’s why we’re excited to announce a new capability for the Files.com On-Premise Agent: automatic updates.

What’s New

The Files.com Agent can now update itself automatically, without human intervention. By configuring a simple setting, you can choose how updates are applied:

• Always: Install every new release automatically.
• Critical Only: Install only updates that address security, performance, or reliability issues (the default).
• Never: Turn off automatic updates entirely to meet strict change management requirements.

Every update is cryptographically verified before installation, and if an update ever causes a startup issue, the Agent automatically rolls back to the previous working version.

Why It Matters

With automatic updates enabled, you can ensure that your Agents are always running the latest, most secure version. There's no need to log in, download, or restart services yourself. That means less downtime, fewer tickets, and stronger protection for your file transfers.

This feature makes it easier than ever to stay aligned with your organization’s security policies while giving you full control over how updates are applied.

How to Enable It

Automatic updates are opt-in, so you can decide if and when to turn them on. Simply update your Agent’s configuration file to set the auto_update_policy to your preferred option. Full details are available in our documentation.
