What's New for December 2025
December 2025 saw exciting new features for connecting remote servers and optimizing uploads, self-serve restore for deleted users, centralized settings policies for child sites, and more.
Site administrators can now restore deleted files directly from the platform, eliminating the need to contact Support. This provides immediate access to recover important files with customizable restoration options.
Choose the folder to restore from, target a timeframe for when the files were deleted, and determine exactly where the restored files should go. You also control whether to include any deleted permissions and whether to preserve the original modification timestamps. This means you can bring files back without disrupting ownership, access settings, audit trails, and most importantly, your automated processes.
This enhancement puts powerful recovery tools directly in your hands, so you can respond faster to unexpected deletions. The Files Restores feature is now available in all sites.

We've addressed an issue where the On-Premise Agent on Windows failed to automatically restart when log files exceeded a certain size. If you are using a version earlier than 2.0.4219 on Windows, we recommend updating your agent as soon as possible to avoid disrupting your file transfers.

We've also continued to innovate and improve throughout the platform.

We've made some big improvements to the Files.com Editor. The Files.com Editor now loads up to 20% faster, so you can get to work more quickly. Collaboration is smoother and more flexible during co-authoring sessions because you can now undo changes, even with multiple simultaneous authors.
No action is needed if you're already using the Files.com Editor. These updates have already been applied to all applicable sites.

Site administrators can now disable Snapshot Share Link creation. Snapshot Share Links provide your recipients access to a read-only copy of files, and they allow sharing users to upload files directly for sharing. Files stored in Snapshot Share Links count toward your storage usage and are placed in the underscore folder.
Disabling Snapshot Share Links prevents users from uploading files directly into share links, which ensures that only files meeting your upload policies are shared with external contacts.
Snapshot Share Links are enabled by default for any site that allows sharing. To disable this feature, change the "Allow Snapshot Share Links" setting in your site's configuration.

When Automations fail or are partially successful, retries will now automatically skip steps that previously succeeded, making the retries faster. This new retry logic ensures that partially complete steps that move or delete items will not cause subsequent failures when the Automation retries.

We've enhanced the performance of Box Remote Server connections. Transfers are now faster and more reliable to make moving files more efficient. No action is needed to take advantage of these improvements, as they have already been applied to all Box connections.
