SAP integrates with the outside world through file interfaces. IDocs, EDI messages, and flat files move over SFTP through SAP Integration Suite, PI/PO, or a file port — orders and invoices to partners, master-data and settlement feeds coming back. The file part of that exchange — collecting it from partners, converting it, getting it to the right interface on time — is the part SAP leaves to you.

Files.com is the file-transfer layer around those interfaces. Partners send to your Files.com site over SFTP, FTPS, or HTTPS; an Automation decrypts and validates each file, converts the EDI or flat-file format the interface expects, and stages it where SAP reads it — or picks up what SAP writes out, encrypts it, and delivers it to each partner. Every transfer is logged, every partner is scoped to its own folder, and PGP is handled in place.
