What is a Clickwrap?

A clickwrap, or clickthrough agreement, is a digital prompt that offers visitors the opportunity to accept or decline a policy. Visitors must click to agree with the policy prior to continuing.

What is a Clickwrap Used For?

A clickwrap can be used to present a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), Terms of Service (ToS), or any other policy that needs to be agreed upon. You can configure as many clickwraps as you need.

Creating a Clickwrap

You can create a Clickwrap by navigating to User Accounts > Users > User Settings > Clickwraps, or navigating to Sharing > Sharing Settings > Clickwraps, and click the Add new Clickwrap button.

Enter a name for the Clickwrap. Paste in the body of the agreement, or policy, in MarkDown format. Specify whether this Clickwrap can be used with Inboxes and Share Links, and click Save.

To add a clickwrap to a Share Link, navigate to Sharing > Share Links > Manage Share Links. Select the Share Link. Select the Settings tab, then click the Edit button next to the clickwrap. Select the clickwrap you want to use for the Share Link and click Save.

Applying a Clickwrap to an Inbox

To add a clickwrap to an Inbox, navigate to Sharing > Inboxes. Select the Inbox. Select the Settings tab then click the Edit button next to the clickwrap. Select the clickwrap you want to use for the Inbox and click Save.

Viewing Clickwrap Acceptance

Whenever a clickwrap is accepted by a user, it’s tracked, so that you can audit it later.

To audit the accepted Share Link clickwraps, Navigate to Sharing > Share Links > Registrations. You can see the user registration information, or the IP Address if there was no registration, and you can view the accepted clickwrap contents under the Clickwrap column.

To audit the accepted Inbox clickwraps, navigate to Sharing > Inboxes > Registrations. You can see the user registration information, or the IP Address if there was no registration, and you can view the accepted clickwrap contents under the Clickwrap column.

Managing Clickwraps

To manage your clickwraps, navigate to Sharing > Sharing Settings > Clickwraps.

Here you can use the Edit button to update your clickwrap, set the Availability options for the clickwrap and view where the clickwrap is being used. Use the Delete button to delete a clickwrap. You can use the Add new Clickwrap button to create a new clickwrap.

Clickwraps can also be managed programmatically using the Files.com API or the Files.com Command Line App.
