Pricing FAQ

Files.com pricing is transparent: Starter and Power are published, Enterprise is custom-quoted. Everything below is the same as what our Sales and Billing teams will tell you.

Plans, trial, and money-back guarantee

Starter is $199/month (or $2,099/year). Power is $499/month (or $5,269/year). Enterprise pricing is custom, usually a fraction of what a comparable legacy MFT contract runs. Annual billing saves 12%; two- and three-year terms include volume pricing.

Yes. 7 days, no credit card required. You can connect real workflows and evaluate the platform end-to-end. No feature gating during the trial; you see everything.

On annual plans, if you're not satisfied with Files.com within the first 90 days of paid use, contact us and we'll refund your full annual purchase price. No negotiation, no cancellation review. The guarantee applies to annual plans only. Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime but aren't covered by the refund policy. No other MFT vendor offers a money-back guarantee.

Most teams start on Starter. The included user and connection counts cover most teams, and additional Full Users are just $12/month each and additional Outbound Connections are $50/month, cheap enough that growing past the included counts is not a reason to jump to Power on its own.

Move to Power when you actually need the features it unlocks: SSO/SAML, the on-premise Agent, AS2 for EDI, custom domain with dedicated IP, GPG encryption, IP allowlisting, password policies. Upgrade for capabilities, not capacity.

Anytime. Most accounts grow into the next tier as their needs expand. Upgrades and downgrades on Starter and Power are self-serve; transitions to and from Enterprise are handled by your account team.

Users and the pricing model

Files.com plans include a set number of Full Users and System Users. A user counts as billable once they log in to your site or authenticate via the API. Users that have never logged in don't count, which lets you bulk-provision SSO/SCIM rosters without paying for accounts that aren't in active use.

A System User is a service account that connects via SFTP, FTP, FTPS, WebDAV, the API, or any other non-interactive protocol, never the Web, Desktop, or Mobile apps. To count as a System User the account also has to have no SSO association, no admin privileges, and no email-invitation password flow. Anyone (or anything) that doesn't meet all four conditions counts as a Full User.

System Users are priced significantly lower than Full Users, so your bill tracks how the account is actually used.

Any active user account on your site, with two exceptions: accounts that have never logged in or used the API, and accounts that have been disabled. Disabled users stop counting immediately the first time they're disabled, and after a 90-day grace period on subsequent toggles.

No. User accounts may not be shared by multiple people or services — this is both a security policy and a detection mechanism Files.com enforces. Sharing breaks audit logging and makes you unable to know who performed which action. Enterprise customers with a legitimate legacy-FTP need can negotiate an exception in their agreement.

Overages, limits, and changes mid-cycle

Nothing breaks: your site keeps working. We bill the additional users as overage line items. Monthly payers see overages on the next monthly invoice; annual payers get a single "true-up" invoice at the end of the usage period covering the months remaining on the term.

Your billable user count is visible in the admin UI. For Enterprise accounts, your account team monitors it proactively and reaches out before overages would apply, so you can either disable inactive users or plan a tier upgrade ahead of renewal.

Yes. Disabling a user preserves their permissions and settings and removes them from the billable count immediately. We don't allow toggling disabled status as an overage-avoidance pattern (the re-disable grace period is 90 days specifically for that reason), but legitimate roster cleanup is exactly what disable is for.

Overages always show as separate line items, never folded into the base plan price. Monthly billing: overages appear on the invoice immediately following the period they were incurred in. Annual billing: a true-up invoice covers the prorated cost across the remaining months of the annual term.

Features, support, and Enterprise

SSO/SAML, IP allowlisting, password policies, custom domain with dedicated IP, the on-premise Agent, AS2 protocol for EDI, and GPG encryption with customer-provided keys. SSO and the Agent are the usual reasons teams move up.

As many users and outbound connections as required, an SLA with cash-back uptime guarantee, the HIPAA BAA and DORA addendum, up to eight storage and compute zones, separate environments for staging and subsidiaries, and full onboarding and migration assistance in the base quote. SIEM integration, 24/7 Strategic Enterprise Support, and High Availability for the Files.com Agent are common add-ons that get scoped in when they apply.

Every Enterprise account gets priority access to the same US-based engineering team that answers Starter and Power tickets, with faster response SLAs and dedicated contacts. For 24/7 coverage with a named account team, an escalation path to engineering, and quarterly business reviews, Strategic Enterprise Support is available as a common add-on.

Files.com Enterprise pricing is custom-quoted and usage-based: from $10,000 to over $1M annually, sized to your usage, with bulk-data discounts as you scale. The base quote includes the SLA, HIPAA BAA, multi-region storage, and full onboarding. SIEM integration, 24/7 Strategic Enterprise Support, and High Availability for the Files.com Agent are common add-ons, scoped in the quote when relevant.

Files.com is SOC 2 Type II certified and PCI DSS compliant, with a HIPAA BAA and a GDPR DPA available. Files.com is also FedRAMP Certified (20x, Class A). Every plan runs on the same audited infrastructure; the signed BAA and your choice of data-residency region are arranged on Enterprise. See the compliance center for the full certification list.
